Loose Women viewers took to social media to share their support for panellist Denise Welch as the star ferociously defended Meghan Markle on Tuesday.

The Tynemouth-born actress joined Jane Moore, Brenda Edwards and Gloria Hunniford on the ITV1 daytime show and one of the talking topics centred on Meghan Markle's recent interview with The Cut.

Whilst Jane and Gloria criticised Meghan and husband Prince Harry for giving such public interviews whilst wanting privacy, Denise spoke up in defence of the couple.

She said: "I think my views are quite clear and I do seem to be in the minority.

"I think that Meghan Markle can do nothing right and hasn't been able to since the beginning."

The 64-year-old, who attended schools in Whitley Bay and Jesmond as a youngster, slammed critics demanding that Meghan and Harry speak more prudently, arguing it should instead be bigots who change how they speak.

She added: "I've been on the Meghan Markle support wagon since she got with Prince Harry and found out since the age of nine or 10 she has been an advocate of women with colour, she has been part of the United Nations, Meghan Markle was in these big important rooms before she met Prince Harry."

Denise's thoughts frustrated Jane, who questioned whether Meghan's comments were "giving publicity to people who don't deserve publicity".

Meanwhile, Gloria Hunniford said: "I was very sad actually when they went to live in America, however, I respected the fact they wanted a bit of privacy.

"Privacy to me is not doing Oprah Winfrey and every magazine. She did tell some fibs or lies, whatever you want to call them. Meghan undermines all the good work she does by spinning these lies."

It was at that moment that Denise snapped back and viewers took to social media to praise the Coronation Street actress.

She said: "I disagree. And the Royal Family have never told any fibs or lies either? There are some whoppers we aren't allowed to talk about.

"The Queen supports Prince Andrew, Gloria. She doesn't say a word about Prince Andrew - the guy who paid a woman off for a sex case.

"They [Meghan and Harry] want privacy from being talked about, not being talked to. They never said they wanted privacy to not do good things. Look at the press every single day - you guys are obsessed with tearing them down."

One viewer shared: "@RealDeniseWelch Have just watched you today on #LooseWomen and my sister and I totally agree with everything you said regarding Harry & Meghan. Well done."

Another message read: "@RealDeniseWelch and @brenda_edwards schooling the others on #LooseWomen about Meghan Markle. It’s privacy on THEIR terms. And Gloria had no response to the Prince Andrew contradiction. Just to tell Denise she was ‘shouting’. So frustrating."
