Perrie Edwards has officially shut down reports that she and Leigh-Anne Pinnock are “drifting apart.” The former Little Mix singer, 29, made a guest appearance on BBC Radio 1’s Breakfast Show with Greg James on Monday (June 19), during a segment involving Leigh-Anne Pinnock, who was live in the studio promoting her new single.

The speculation grew that they were “drifting apart” and no longer close friends after Perrie appeared to be absent from Leigh-Anne’s recent personal milestones, including her nuptials in Jamaica, earlier this month.

Leigh-Anne, 31, who was promoting her debut solo single ‘Don’t Say Love,’ was taking part in the Sit Down, Stand Up segment, when she contacted former bandmate Perrie to ask her the question: “Are you sitting down, or standing up?” After revealing that her “dear sister” Perrie was sitting down, the pair professed their “love” for one another.

The mum-of-one then went on to reveal that she is currently working on her own solo music too. Perrie said: “I’m just en route to work. I have a little writing camp going on in my hometown of Weymouth which is really fun. It’s where I grew up, we thought we’d do it here.”

Perrie continued: “Weymouth is lit but I tell you what’s even better than Weymouth: Leigh-Anne’s new song. Leigh-Anne I’m obsessed, literally obsessed. Can’t get over it. It’s in my head 24/7 so thank you for that.

“Despite speculation, Perrie did take to her Instagram stories following the song’s debut, writing: “The most epic video ever, so proud of my [Leigh-Anne Pinnock]”.

Many Little Mix fans took to Twitter when they noticed Perrie’s absence at several events, with one writing at the time: “I see Jade at the wedding, wonder where Perrie is?” Another wrote: “Is it just me who thinks Perrie and Leigh-Anne are not as close anymore.”

A third chimed in, agreeing with the comments, saying: “They comment on each other’s posts but I haven’t seen them with each other in so long. It’s kinda sad.”

Another fan jumped to Perrie’s defence, highlighting the physical distance between them, insisting: “Perrie lives far from both Jade and Leigh-Anne, give the girl the benefit of the doubt, goddamnit. We know nothing about what goes on behind closed doors.”
