Police release CCTV in bid to trace suspects after assault near Flares left 24-year-old with fractured skull

Officers investigating a violent assault in the Newcastle city centre have released CCTV footage in a bid to track down suspects.

A 24-year-old was left with a fractured skull and broken collar bone after an incident that happened at around 3:05 am on Sunday, June 12.

It was reported the man had been sitting with his girlfriend on the steps in front of the Job Centre on Mosely Street, near Flares, when three males approached them and a verbal altercation took place.

The victim was then assaulted by one of the males who punched him, causing him to fall to the ground. All three then left the scene and emergency services were contacted.

An investigation into the incident remains ongoing and police have since reviewed CCTV and spoken to witnesses.

Today, police have issued the following CCTV clip of a group of males who were in the area at the time and could have information which can assist.
