A battle royale takes the format of a last-man-standing game which includes elements of survival, exploration and scavenging.

Researchers explained that the more varied your environment, the more opportunities there are to gather rare loot and survive.

An emphasis was placed on areas with abundant resources, such as farmland, woodland and mineral extraction sites, as well as areas with the potential for high-value loot, such as construction sites, industrial units and dumpsites.

Another category was sites of general interest such as beaches, dumpsites and moors which help make a more unique and enjoyable map for players.
