Happy Birthday, Sam!

Sam Fender celebrated his 29th birthday in a strange way with his bandmates.

Taking some time out from recording his third album and preparations for a run of shows at St James’ Park, Sam posted to Instagram to mark the occasion.

The photo in question, however, is extremely chaotic. Cake lying everywhere, covering Sam and guitarist Dean as they laugh.

And the caption only adds to the disorder.

Sam wrote: ‘Dean slammed a full Collin the Caterpillar in ma face. Thanks for all the birthday love.’

According to Dean, this has turned into a bit of a tradition, sharing the photo to his story with the message: ‘Hahahaha it’s a tradition to absolutely demolish any of Sams birthday cakes. Every year,’ with the laughing face emoji.

Let’s hope the clean up job isn’t too bad today.
