Teenagers, 13 and 16, arrested after suspected Gateshead robbery

Two teenagers, a 13-year-old and a 16-year-old, have been arrested after a suspected robbery in the Ochre Yards area of Gateshead on Sunday night.

Northumbria Police attended the incident shortly before 11:50 pm on Sunday, February 13 after reports that two males had tried to rob a 44-year-old man.

The two males proceeded to physically assault the victim who refused to hand over his possessions.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Just before 11:50 pm last night (Sunday), police received a report of a suspected robbery on Worsdell Drive in Dunston, Gateshead.

“It was reported that a 44 year-old man was approached by two males, one of whom was on a pedal cycle, who have demanded money and a mobile phone. After refusing, they have physically assaulted the victim who sustained minor injuries.

“Two teenagers, aged 13 and 16, have been arrested on suspicion of burglary and remain in police custody at this time.
