Newcastle’s sillest event returns this weekend at The Cluny- their annual duck race.

A cult favourite amongst Ouseburn regulars, the race sees participants take part in two separate rubber duck-based activities including best dressed and then, of course, the quickest duck to float down the river.

The ducks must be bought from The Cluny bar before the decorating and arts and crafts can begin. Best dressed duck wins a duck themed cake. Previous examples include Elton John duck, an astronaut and- the classic- dousing your rubber friend in glitter.

The quickest duck will win a golden duck trophy which is the envy of the whole of Newcastle.

Of course, no racing assists, rubber rings or motors are allowed!
