Over the past 20 months the UK has been gripped by Covid graphs and statistics whilst grappling with the virus.

The number of Covid cases went up, then down, then up and down again as the country entered and left lockdowns.

In 2021, with the Covid vaccine rollout kicking in, cases stabilised and life began to return to normal.

Now, despite a recent rise of positive tests nationally and in the North East, it looks set to be a largely normal Christmas with families back together again.

Thinking back over the past year and a half, NewcastleWorld.com looks into the exact day regions of Newcastle recorded the highest number of Covid cases.

Newcastle has recorded a total of 50,615 Covid cases.

On November 2 2021, the region recorded 20 positive cases.

North Tyneside -

North Tyneside has recorded a total of 33,618 Covid cases.

On November 2 2021, the region recorded 34 positive cases.

The date when Covid cases in North Tyneside were at their highest was July 15 2021, when 291 cases were found in a day.

South Tyneside -
