The exact moment Newcastle heatwave will be hottest and break current city record

The record high temperature of 32.5 degrees in Newcastle is set to be broken this week

In case you didn't hear, there's a heatwave happening in Newcastle.

The city and neighbourhoods across Tyneside are set to see record temperatures over the next 48 hours as the Met Office warns of a "danger to life".

The region has escaped the red weather warning issued for more southern parts of the UK, but an amber weather warning is still in place.

Widespread impacts on people and transport are predicted with the warning lasting until 11:59 pm on Tuesday.

The Met Office has warned of adverse health effects including sunburn or heat exhaustion (dehydration, nausea, fatigue), as well as a potential "danger to life".

Current record temperatures in Newcastle were set at 32.5 degrees on August 3, 1990.

A high of a whopping 33 degrees could be seen on Tuesday - here is the hour-by-hour forecast according to The Met Office.
