With only a handful of businesses across the country making the nominations, it's a major coup for the two Geordie restaurants on the list.

The British Restaurant Awards are split into a number of categories and you'll spot the popular Tyneside restaurants in Best New Restaurant and Best Culinary Experience.

Here's more info on the two venues doing the North East proud in the national awards.

Best New Restaurant - Flore

Brunch spot Flore opened its doors in Central Arcade at the end of last year.

The cafe and patisserie has had a rampant start to business, quickly drumming up a reputation for serving one of the city's best brunches.

The super sleek restaurant is Instagram-ready but is a lot more than just its decorations.

Its menu is simple yet classy and nothing short of a foodie haven.

Flore is nominated for Best New Restaurant at the British Restaurant Awards.
