Hall broke into the Chelsea team in impressive fashion last year and was handed several first team opportunities under the management of both Graham Potter and Frank Lampard.

He was heavily linked with a loan move away from Stamford Bridge this summer and Crystal Palace were reportedly one of the club’s leading the race for the player’s services.

But it appears that the left back is now heading to Tyneside on a permanent deal this summer.

But how much will Lewis Hall cost Newcastle United and what can fans expect from their potential signing?

Here’s everything you need to know.

Newcastle United are closing in on a deal to sign Lewis Hall from Chelsea and it is believed that a fee of £28m has been agreed between the two clubs.

The Magpies have been admirers of Hall throughout the transfer window and the player is reportedly keen to play Champions League football next season.

Chelsea did initially prefer the option of loaning the player to Crystal Palace, but Hall has since stated his desire to join Newcastle on a permanent basis.

The 18-year-old is a boyhood Newcastle fan and sees the move as a great opportunity to play more first team football. Another element is Chelsea’s existing depth in the left back area - where Ben Chilwell is backed up by Marc Cucurella, Ian Maatsen and new recruit Ishe Samuels-Smith from Everton.

Hall was left out of the squad for Chelsea’s opener with Liverpool at the weekend, and is reportedly deemed surplus to requirements by new boss Mauricio Pochettino.

A potential transfer for Hall would see a reunion with new recruit Tino Livramento, who played alongside the teengager in the Chelsea academy between 2012 and 2021.

What will Lewis Hall bring to Newcastle United?

Newcastle United are determined to add depth to their team as they juggle the demands of Premier League football with European competition.

Left back is believed to be a priority position for Eddie Howe and his team with Dan Burn, Matt Targett and Paul Dummett being Newcastle’s only first team options in the area.

Hall is viewed as a bright young talent and he has represented England at all age groups from U15 to U21s.

The 18-year-old impressed in his 10 first team appearances last term and won Chelsea’s Academy Player of the Year award for 2023.
