102-goal striker spotted in England as Newcastle United 'confident' of striking deal
The Lille striker faced Liverpool in the Champions League and scored to make it 1-1 before Harvey Elliott’s deflected shot earned Arne Slot’s side a victory that sealed their progression into the last 16.
Mohamed Salah opened the scoring in the 34th minute before the French club were reduced to 10 men when Aissa Mandi was sent off. On the hour-mark, David equalised but Elliott quickly restored the home side’s lead.

"We came against the first of the Champions League group so we knew it was going to be a complicated game even more so when we went to 10 men, It's frustrating, we wanted to hold on as long as we could but it's very difficult.
“Tonight is one more goal [for me]. I'm happy I managed to score but we didn't manage to get the three points.”
The Canadian has now scored against Liverpool, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Juventus this season. Out of contract in the summer, David is set to become one of the most sought-after free agents in Europe.

Hide AdAnd as reported by NewcastleWorld earlier this month, there is some confidence the Magpies can strike a deal to bring David to Tyneside.
It has been reported nationally that four Premier League clubs have made representations to the agent of David, as well as two from Serie A. Newcastle believe they can beat any other rival to the player’s signature.
During his four years at Lille, he’s netted 102 goals in only 173 starts, that includes 18 in 31 this season. David previously broke through at Gent, where he enjoyed a similarly prolific spell, scoring 35 in just 58 starts.
"What am I waiting for? I guess now it’s easier to say. I’m in the last year of my contract,” David said earlier this season. "Eventually my contract is going to run out. So then we’ll see. We’ll see what happens next year. I’m open to anything.
"I think obviously the Premier League is regarded as one of the best leagues in the world. And for me it’s not the Premier League or bust. I’m open to anything and every league has its challenges."
