34 Newcastle United contract end dates and the huge decisions still to make

It was a stark admission from Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe and one that surprised many in attendance.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday night's FA Cup fourth round tie against Fulham, the Magpies boss was asked about the future of Brazil international Joelinton after speculation of an impasse in negotiations over a new deal.

Howe replied: "He has 18 months left on his contract so it's a possibility he'll be sold in the summer. I'm not a fortune teller but it's a possibility. I hope that's not the case. I want him to stay. I love him as a person and player. But before a player signs a contract he has to be happy with everything and we are not there yet."

Howe, usually the player of a straight bat to awkward questions, has given a major insight into just one of the major contract decisions the Magpies hierarchy are facing up to over the next six months. But Joelinton is far from alone as several other United players approach the final year of their existing deals at St James Park.
