Newcastle United fans can only fly directly to six of 16 possible destinations the Magpies may travel to in the Champions League group stage next year. Eddie Howe’s side booked their place in the prestigious competition thanks to an impressive season which ended in a fourth-place Premier League finish.

Newcastle United will enter directly into the Champions League group stage alongside defending champions Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United from England.

The draw from the competition’s group stage will take place on August 25 and Newcastle United fans will finally be able to start planning their trips abroad to watch their beloved club for the first time since the 2012/13 Europa League.

The North East club will find themselves in Pot 4 alongside Celtic, Union Berlin, Lens and other clubs from qualifying rounds, so will not face any of those teams. Newcastle United will be drawn against one team from Pot 1, one team from Pot 2 and one team from Pot 3, the latter of which will also be finalised after qualifying games.

The majority of Magpies fans will be hoping to fly from Newcastle Airport. The local transport hub is easily reached on the Tyne and Wear Metro and is known for its short queues, with 99% of passengers passing through security in six minutes or less.

Newcastle Airport serves a long list of European destinations, but Magpies fans will be lucky if they land even one side in the group stage which is currently a direct flight from the airport.
