Alexander Isak is loving life at Newcastle United as he refused to entertain talk surrounding a potential exit.

The 24-year-old netted for the fifth time in five Premier League matches during Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw against Everton, taking his tally to 19 goals for the season. Since joining the Magpies from Real Sociedad for a club record £63million in August 2022, Isak boasts an impressive record of 29 goals in 59 appearances.

The Swede’s form, plus suggestions that United may look to sell a star player this summer in order to boost their transfer budget in line with Premier League Profitability and Sustainability Rules, has led to speculation regarding his future.

But Isak insists he is not thinking about leaving. He said: “Of course I want to be here in the future. I came here for the project, I absolutely love playing here, I really feel at home.

"I want to finish this season in a good way for me and the team. I don't want to entertain these type of questions and rumours. It's not my position. I love playing here. I love playing, we have important games, there's no focus there (on my future), I just want to do good for the team.”

According to Spanish publication El Diario Vasco, Sociedad are keeping tabs on Isak’s situation with La Liga club due 10% of any future sale. Arsenal were regularly linked with signing Isak before his move to St James' Park, and those rumours are resurfaced in recent weeks.

But under no circumstances does Newcastle boss Eddie Howe want to lose his top goalscorer.

Howe said: “For me, [Isak has] limitless potential. We’ve got someone who has had some really good experiences in his career. As a young player he’s had some experiences in different leagues.

“He’s come to us at a good time in his career where we can hopefully develop his talents and give him a platform to show how good he is. At the moment, he’s building confidence all the time. He’s a high level player and we’re delighted to have him with us.

“You have to try and keep your best players. Whether you’re able to do continually with the rules that are in place at the moment, that’s always unsure, I’m not in control of that.

“But from my perspective, to be the team we want to be, we have to try and  keep our best players and improve the other”
