It seems Newcastle United’s confidence is still sky high.

Allan Saint-Maximin maintained Newcastle United’s confidence after their win against Manchester United at the weekend by biting back at a Red Devils’ fan on Twitter.

The Frenchman posted a photo of him mid-action to Twitter last night with a rocket emoji caption.

Many fans replied with messages of support and encouragement, however one user took a very different approach.

A Manchester United fan replied to Maxi asking: ‘Wheres ur trophy.’

To which the winger hit back: ‘Your tears are enough,’ complete with a hilarious video.

At yesterday’s press conference ahead of Newcastle’s away game against West Ham, Eddie Howe praised Saint-Maximin’s performance on Sunday.

He said: “I thought he gave a really good all-round performance on Sunday. He’s a natural dribbler, everyone knows that, but his decision making of when to dribble and when to pass was very good.

“He got an assist so the end product was there and defensively he was diligent so I am delighted with him.”

Saint-Maximin’s future at the club has been questioned, with significant interest from AC Milan. The player has since admitted he had the opportunity to leave Newcastle United in January.

However he put all rumours to bed when he spoke to Sky Sports at the weekend:

“I had the opportunity to go to another club in January but the club said they want me to stay and that I’m important. When you feel that the club, the manager and every single person in Newcastle wants you then, of course, you want to stay.

“But the day I don’t have that feeling for sure I will have no other choice but to go to the place that really wants me. I don’t think about that now. I’m really focused on my goal - which is helping Newcastle try and reach the Champions League.

“After that, I will think about what is best for me and I will have a chat with the club and the manager about what they want and I will have to make a decision for sure. But I really want to see myself and my future here in Newcastle.”
