If this line-up is true, Guimaraes will be on the bench for Tite’s side. He made his international debut back in November 2020 against Uruguay and has since picked up seven more caps.

Newcastle swooped to sign him in January of this year and he became one of the first marquee signings after the takeover. He has since become a fans’ favourite at St. James’ Park and has adapted well to life in the Premier League.

The midfielder has made 31 appearances for Eddie Howe’s side to date and has chipped in with eight goals. He has been a key reason behind their rise to 3rd in the Premier League table, hence his call-up for Qatar,

Prior to his move to the North East, the Rio-born man played his native country for Audax and Athletico Paranaense before Lyon lured him to Europe as a youngster in 2019. He then became a key player in Ligue 1 before his switch to Newcastle.

Guimaraes isn’t the only Toon Army player in World Cup action tomorrow, with defender Fabian Schar’s Switzerland taking on Cameroon.
