Eddie Howe has issued an update on Bruno Guimaraes after the Newcastle United midfielder picked up an ankle injury during the 1-0 win over Fulham.
The Brazilian rolled his ankle in the opening stages at St James’ Park and looked in huge discomfort as he received treatment.

But as half-time approached, Guimaraes knew his afternoon was over. The 25-year-old was in tears as referee Robert Jones blew for half-time whistle and had to be comforted by Joelinton and Sean Longstaff.
Guimaraes was pictured leaving the stadium on crutches and wearing a protective boot.
“He was [in distress], and he was after the game,” Howe said, “He’s worried about his ankle, it was a twist. He felt he could carry on until the end of the first-half when he signalled to come off. Never a good sign from our perspective.

The Magpies found a way to win without Guimaraes after substitute Alexander Isak scored in the 89th-minute to clinch a 1-0 victory.
“The goal was a special moment,” Howe said. “So pleased for Alex. You want to hit the ground running at a new club and he did before the injury.
Former Newcastle United striker Aleksandar Mitrovic missed a penalty for the visitors, 20 minutes before Isak struck.
