Bruno Guimaraes has addressed his Newcastle United future after scoring the winner in his side’s 1-0 victory at Fulham.

The Brazilian struck in the 81st minute to boost the Magpies’ hopes of qualifying for Europe. It was Guimaraes’ 100th appearance for United since joining from Lyon in January 2022.

"What day, what a day for me,” said the 26-year-old. “The first 20 minutes was not good enough from us, but after that and then in the second half it was an unbelievable performance from everyone.

"100 games for the club, wow! What a journey I have been living here. I am very happy, glad. Everyone deserved to win the game today. The feeling against Everton, to lose the win in the last minutes hurt a lot. So to get here today, 100 games, score, what a day!”

Newcastle qualified for the Champions League last season but currently sit eighth in the Premier League as they compete for either a Europa League or Europa Conference League spot.

The uncertainity securing a European spot and pressure to comply with Premier League Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) has led to speculation over Guimaraes’ future.

And when asked about his future, Guimaraes said: “I hope to stay much longer. I don't know what the future brings let's see, but I hope to play much more for Newcastle United." Meanwhile, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe added: "No I wouldn't say that is a conversation we are having. He has got a contract, a long contract, signed a new deal this season. When a player does that he commits himself to you for a number of years.”
