Casemiro sent off for Manchester United v Crystal Palace - will he miss Newcastle United final?

Casemiro’s red card against Crystal Palace has left both Manchester United and Newcastle United fans wondering if the midfielder will miss the Carabao Cup final.

Casemiro was shown a straight red card during Manchester United’s 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

Erik ten Hag’s men moved three points above Newcastle United prior to their evening kick-off (5:30pm) against West Ham following goals by Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford.

Casemiro was sent off in the 70th-minute for putting his hands on Will Hughes’ neck during a scuffle. The referee reviewed the incident at the VAR pitchside monitor before going to his back pocket.

The Brazilian is now set to miss the next three domestic games against Leeds United (twice) and Leicester City before returning just in time for the Carabao Cup final on Sunday, February 26.

Casemiro’s countryman Bruno Guimaraes will also be available for the visit to Wembley. The Magpies midfielder begins his three-match ban tonight versus West Ham before sitting out versus Bournemouth and Liverpool.
