The Blues won 2-1 at Stamford Bridge as Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer netted either side of Alexander Isak’s equaliser. On top of that, Enzo Marseca’s side made Premier League history by becoming the first team to receive six or more yellow cards in three games in one season.
Wesley Fofana was cautioned 11 minutes in before Romeo Lavia saw yellow early in the second-half. Noni Madueke, Robert Sanchez and Pedro Neto were booked in quick succession while manager Maresca and Christopher Nkunku were booked in stoppage time.

A FA statement, as quoted by the Daily Mirror said: “This will be a £75k fine for Chelsea for 6+ cautioned in today's game (third multi-participant misconduct of the season)."
Newcastle, meanwhile, saw Fabian Schar, Sandro Tonali and Sean Longstaff booked. Both Joelinton and Dan Burn, both of whom are one caution away from a one-match ban, stayed out of referee Simon Hooper’s book.
Premier League rules state that any player shown five bookings in the opening 19 league matches is suspended for one match, something which impacted Bruno Guimaraes, Anthony Gordon and Kieran Trippier last season.
Joelinton and Burn must make it until matchday 20 - the visit to Tottenham Hotspur on January 4, 2025 - without picking up a yellow card if they are avoid punishment.
