England international Guehi was the Magpies’ number one target during the summer transfer window, however they were unwilling to meet Crystal Palace’s £70million valuation.
United retain an interest in Guehi but are unlikely to bite again this month. The preference is to re-visit a potential deal in the summer when the defender is into the final 12 months of his contract.

But there’s a chance Chelsea could try and prise Guehi away from Selhurst Park this month following long-term injuries to centre-back Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile.
However, one potential stumbling block is the Blues’ need to ship players out first. It’s been reported by The Telegraph that Enzo Maresa’s side are open to offers for the likes of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Carney Chukwuemeka, Axwl Disasi, Cesare Casadei, Ben Chilwell and Christopher Nkunku.
Guehi came through the academy at Chelsea and made two senior appearances before being sold to Palace for £18million in 2021.
After impressing at Euro 2024, the 24-year-old’s performances dipped at the start of the campaign but his form has improved in tandem with Palace, who despite failing to win any of opening eight league matches, sit five points above the relegation zone.

Hide AdGuehi admitted the speculation surrounding his future impact him.
He said: “I would say yeah and no. When you are constantly reading things about yourself, it can be distracting for some people. I’m just glad I have a good support system around me, my family, the club, my friends. And it is important that humility, making sure you focus on the task at hand.
“Palace have given me every single thing in the world and I am completely grateful to them. I just want to repay them and give my best.”
