West Ham United have reportedly made the first move to sign Newcastle United transfer target Armando Broja.

The Albanian international returned to parent club Chelsea this summer after a successful loan spell with Premier League rivals Southampton and has his future has been the subject of intense speculation over the last two months.

Broja netted nine goals during 38 appearances during his loan stint on the South Coast and has attracted interest from the Premier League and Serie A since returning to Stamford Bridge.

Newcastle are believed to have asked to be kept aware of developments on his future and are keen to take the 20-year-old on loan for the new Premier League season.

The forward has travelled to the United States with Chelsea and is set to play a part in their pre-season tour on the other side of the Atlantic.

However, that could all change over the coming weeks after West Ham stepped up their efforts to sign Broja by submitting an offer worth around £30million for the striker.

Speaking to the media on Saturday afternoon, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel laid out his stance over the bid and Broja’s future.

“Armando is our player first of all and we have, at the moment, no interest in selling him,” Tuchel told reporters.

“He is here to make an impression after he was on loan in Southampton. That’s his situation from where we look up front. It’s good if there’s interest as it shows us there’s talent and potential.

“It shows us that Armando is in the position to impress and become a Chelsea player. When will he become a Chelsea player? Nobody knows but hopefully as soon as possible.

“He got injured and there’s a delay for him, which is never nice because a young player should normally make an impression from the first minute in pre-season.

“Now we have a bit of a delay in that but that’s the situation.”

Everton and Napoli are also said to be showing an interest in Broja.
