Miguel Almiron has been linked with leaving Newcastle United since interest from the Saudi Pro League first emerged in January.

Miguel Almiron’s agent has claimed Newcastle United don’t want to sell the Paraguayan.

The 30-year-old came close to leaving St James’ Park in January following an approach from a Saudi Pro League team, believed to be Al-Shabab. And interest from the Middle East is expected to return this summer.

But according to Almiron’s representative Daniel Campos, the winger also has admirers elsewhere, including clubs in the Premier League. Many view Almiron as a sellable asset but Campos says the Magpies don’t want to offload him.

“Other Premier League clubs have asked about him but Newcastle don’t want to sell,” he told Paraguayan radio station ABC Cardinal. ”The Saudi Arabian market is hovering. There may be news [later this summer] but he is comfortable,”

Although Newcastle’s finances are set to be bolstered by the influx of Champions League prize money, Sela sponsorship and the new Adidas kit deal, there is an acceptance that some players must to be sold in order to boost their budget in line with Premier League Profitability & Sustainability Rules (PSR).

Rather than offload star players such as Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak, the is a focus lower down the squad, and that’s where Almiron comes into the conversation alongside the likes of Callum Wilson.

Almiron turned 30 in February and has two years remaining on his contract. The Magpies could command a decent fee with his 11 goals during the 2022-23 still fresh in the memory.

Meanwhile, 32-year-old Wilson is out-of-contract next summer. The England international is a top class Premier League goal scorer but his injury record continues to cause frustration after he missed 25 games this season.
