Eddie Howe's shock chances of Newcastle United departure vs Man Utd, Chelsea and rival managers

Eddie Howe continues to enjoy the full support of Newcastle United's owners - but still remains high in the market to be the next manager to leave his club.

Eddie Howe has overseen a remarkable turnaround in fortunes during his two-year reign at Newcastle United. After being named as successor to Steve Bruce just a month after a PIF-led consortium completed a long-awaited takeover at St James Park, the former Bournemouth took the Magpies from relegation candidates into the safety of mid-table by the time the 2021/22 season had come to a close.

Howe's first full season proved to be a monumental success as the Magpies reached their first major cup final in almost a quarter of a century and returned to the Champions League by claiming a top four place ahead of the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur. Despite that unquestionable progress and the continuing support Howe enjoys from the Magpies owners, there has been speculation suggesting he could be moved on if a manager with a higher profile becomes available.

Of course, United fans are right to scoff at such suggestions as Howe continues to impress at St James Park in a way that has drawn some comparisons with the impact made by the likes of Kevin Keegan and Sir Bobby Robson during their own reigns on Tyneside. Yet remarkably, the Magpies boss remains high on the list of managers tipped to depart from a Premier League club this season.
