Eddie Howe says Allan Saint-Maximin’s future at Newcastle United will be dictated by the Frenchman himself.
Although the Magpies have overachieved by sealing a return to the Champions League following a 20-year absence, it’s been a frustrating campaign for the 26-year-old on an individual basis.

The former Nice winger posted a cryptic message on the eve of the Chelsea game, telling supporters “never forget who was there when no one else was.” He added. “Time passes, memories fade, feelings change, people leave us, but the heart never forgets. Making history.”
Some supporters had wondered if that was a farewell message but Howe has urged to player to come back fitter and stronger when pre-season begins in July.
Asked about Saint-Maximin, his future and his role next season, Howe said: “That will be dictated by Maxi himself. He has so much ability and he’s such an important player for us when he’s at his very best fitness-wise. He’s unique, there’s no one like him in the Premier League.
