Former Newcastle United star breaks silence on BBC sexting scandal
Jermaine Jenas has “taken responsibility” for the sexting scandal that saw him axed by the BBC.
Last August, the 41-year-old lost his roles on the One Show and Match of the Day after messages he sent to two women surfaced. Jenas - who spent three years at Newcastle United in the noughties - was live on talkSPORT when the news broke.

Jenas has accepted the blame and vowed to return as a “better person” following the incident. He said: “The biggest thing in this whole situation is about taking responsibility and that has been at the forefront of my mind.
“You need to take responsibility for your actions. There’s a reason why you’re in this position, and there’s a reason why this has happened. Once you kind of accept those things, then you can work on yourself and you can work on the other things, and you can work on your family and work towards a brighter future.
“I’m very grateful to talkSPORT for giving me the opportunity to come talk to yourself and get back to doing what I love most. This is about me looking inwards, making some improvements and coming back a better person.”
Jenas previously told The Sun that he is “deeply sorry” for his actions and denied being a “sex pest”. He has been supporting his wife and three children ahead of his return to work.
