Alexander Isak has now scored 10 Premier League goals this season after bagging against Manchester City

Rio Ferdinand has told Arsenal to snatch Alexander Isak from Newcastle United following his performance against Manchester City.

The Swede made it five goals in four games at the weekend with a sublime first-half finish. His curling effort dumbfounded Stefan Ortega and drew the Magpies level in a game they ultimately lost 3-2.

He now has 14 goals across all competitions despite suffering a groin problem earlier in the season. Speaking post-match, Eddie Howe was among the plaudits who hailed Isak as a complete striker for his City display.

“He can go on, I think, to achieve incredible things in his career,” the Newcastle boss said. “He’s got so much more to offer. He’s probably getting back to 100 per cent fitness, I wouldn’t say he’s totally there yet.

“He’s had his own injury troubles this season but the last two performances and the goals that he’s scored offers a glimpse of his capabilities. He is really the all-round striker, in my opinion.”

Now former Manchester United defender Ferdinand has urged Arsenal to tempt the 24-year-old away from St James’ Park. Talk about signing a striker has dominated the agenda at the Emirates all season, with Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus questioned about their goal return.

Ivan Toney has been rumoured as a potential option now the Brentford man is available after his gambling ban. Victor Osimhen at Napoli, too, but the Red Devils legend believes Isak could fit the bill to answer Arsenal's goalscoring problems.

“Alexander Isak was running in behind constantly (against City), Ferdinand told his Vibe with Five podcast. “If I’m Arsenal, I’m going all out and buying him. They (Newcastle) can’t spend, they’re struggling with (profit and sustainability rules). I think there’s another jump up before (he joins Real Madrid). I saw somewhere they have to sell before they can buy again.”
