The full-back joins from Premier League rivals West Ham United, where he progressed through the academy ranks, for an undisclosed fee.

Ashby was wanted by the Magpies in the summer but could not reach an agreement with the Hammers.
However, with the 21-year-old entering the final six months of his contract, David Moyes’ side have opted to cash in.
Head coach Eddie Howe said: “Harrison is a very talented young player with a lot of potential so we are delighted to sign him.
“He has very good attributes so we are looking forward to working with him in this exciting new chapter of his career.”

Born in Milton Keyes, the Scotland under-21s international made seven senior appearances for West Ham in the Premier League and European cup competitions.
Ashby thanked West Ham during his first interview as a Newcastle player.

“I could not be happier,” he said. “I can’t get the smile off my face and it’s a proud day for me and my family.
“I’m buzzing to come to the game tonight, to meet the fans and to get a taste of the atmosphere.

“It’s somewhere I’ve been since I was eight or nine. It’s a big decision to make (to leave West Ham) and a big step for my career.
“I wouldn’t be here today without West Ham, so I thank all the coaches and manager David Moyes for giving me my opportunity in the Premier League, cups and the Europa League.”
