

How Joelinton drink driving fine compares to Manchester City, Everton and Tottenham stars guilty of same crime
Newcastle United midfielder Joelinton was charged £31,085 for driving over the legal limit for alcohol consumption at court today.
After Newcastle United midfielder Joelinton was today convicted of drink driving, here are some other high-profile Premier League names that have also been punished for driving over the limit.
The Magpies midfielder was fined £31,085 and banned from driving for 12 months at Newcastle Magistrates Court today.
Joelinton has since penned an apology message to "the fans of Newcastle and all the people in this city" saying that he "will do everything I can to be a role model for my family, for football and for society".

The footballer was pulled over a fortnight ago by Northumbria Police in the Ponteland area where he gave a breath reading of 43 mcg which is above the legal limit of 22 mcg per 100 ml of breath.
In no particular order, here are stars from Everton, Burnley, Sunderland, Manchester City and more who have also been prosecuted for drink driving.

Yaya Toure was fined £54,000 in 2016 when found to be driving over the limit with 75 mg of alcohol in his system. The Manchester City star claimed not to have known the cola he was drinking from a jug at a party had alcohol in it but pleaded guilty to the fine. He was also banned from driving for 18 months.
