Newcastle United are putting the final pieces in place to confirm the signing of Sando Tonali from AC Milan but, as the two clubs work on paperwork and setting up a medical, the 23-year-old is preparing for international duty.

Tonali is part of the Italy Under-21 and is eligible to compete as he was 21 when the qualification process for the European Under-21 Championship began two years ago.

The star is already a fully-fledged Italy international, having made 11 appearances for the senior national side, but is still a key member in the youth set-up who begin their campaign with a challenging clash against France.
