Ange Postecoglou has revealed Richarlison will miss tomorrow’s clash against Newcastle United.

The Brazilian missed Spurs’ win over Nottingham Forest with a knee injury and, while the setback is not thought to be too serious, they are not going to risk him at St James’ Park. Richarlison showed signs of his best form before recent injury niggles, bagging nine goals in eight Premier League games.

Tottenham boss Postecoglou had managed to get the best out of the 26-year-old, who initially struggled in North London. But Richarlison will not be fit enough to feature this weekend - handing a huge boost to Newcastle.

"He'll miss this week, he is close but with next weekend off, the last two rounds are stacked with games and having him ready for that is more important,” Postecoglou told reporters. “Everyone else from last weekend has gotten through unscathed and are ready to go."

As for Newcastle, they are also hit with further injury woes after Eddie Howe confirmed Lewis Hall and Joe Willock have not trained all week. Including Sandro Tonali’s ban for breaching betting regulations, the Magpies’ absentee list stands at 13.

“Lewis Hall has not trained at all this week so he has been a slight concern from the previous game,” Howe said. “(He has) tightness in quad, it’s not a muscle pull directly, but enough to see him miss training this week and he’s a doubt for the game.

“Joe has been to see another specialist to check on the progress on his Achilles which has been problematic for him and a difficult injury because it has not been as straightforward. There have been a few complications through the process.

“Him returning back to full fitness, the feedback is positive generally in that the achilles is healing and doing well, but it will fluctuate from time to time and have moments where it is not feeling too good. For Tottenham, I’m not sure I probably think he won’t be available for us.”
