There’s been a lot of love for Newcastle United in the Premier League’s Player, Manager and Goal of the month for April.

The Mags have received nods for Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson for Player of the Month, whilst Eddie Howe has once again been nominated for Manager.

Goal of the Month, however, is where the controversy lies. Wilson is amongst nominees again for his incredible strike against Everton and so is Jacob Murphy for netting Isak’s outstanding run against the Toffees.

However, despite Murphy receiving acknowledgement for the incredible month he’s had, fans are shocked and confused as his jaw dropping second goal against Tottenham Hotspur hasn’t made the cut.

On Twitter, ToonPolls said: ‘Unbelievably no nomination for Murphy’s effort against Spurs.’

While another fan jokes: ‘Spurs obviously too easy to score against’ with a laughing face emoji.

Murphy’s reaction after striking the ball from outside the box to put United up 3-0 against Spurs within nine minutes went viral and is widely considered one of the best celebrations of the season.

It was the face of someone who had just scored the Goal of the Month. It also had many fans believing he was a shoo-in.

Still the meme lives on...
