The 47-year-old has spent the majority of his career as assistant to Eddie Howe at Bournemouth and now Newcastle, although did have a brief 31-game stint in charge of the Cherries when Howe resigned in August 2020.

Tindall recently stepped up to manage three games in Howe’s absence last month when he was recovering from pneumonia. It was during then Tindall was asked if he still had ambitions to become a manager, to which he played down the prospect.

He said: “That's never been my intention, it's not what I wanted at that time it was just with the circumstances the manager needed a break and work out what his next chapter should be so the opportunity came my way and it was one I couldn't turn down.

“It's certainly not something I've got in mind, I'm happy in my role and it's something I want to continue to do."

Based on Tindall’s comments and Newcastle’s desire to keep him, the potential prospect of Tindall heading to West London appears extremely unlikely.

Newcastle United without Jason Tindall this weekend

Newcastle will be without Tindall on the touchline for Sunday’s Premier League trip to Brighton & Hove Albion. He picked up his third yellow card of the season during the 3-0 win over Ipswich Town and therefore handed a one-match touchline ban.

“It baffles me why, to be honest, because I was right there and I saw and heard everything,” Howe said on Tindall’s yellow card. “To a degree, I think it's aimed purely at trying to stop Jason managing, but I was the one back in the dugout so I don't see the issue.”
