The latest transfer news from Newcastle United ahead of the summer transfer window

Newcastle United fans have enjoyed their highest goal scoring campaign in a 38 game Premier League season to date and one of the key catalysts for that has been Anthony Gordon.

The former Everton winger has recorded an impressive 10 goals and 10 assists in his first full season - making him the first top-flight Magpies player to hit double digits in both categories since Ruel Fox back in the 1994/95 season.

Such form has catapulted Gordon into the England squad less than a year on from his terrific campaign for the U21s which saw him win U21 European Championship Player of the Tournament.

Gordon’s consistency has earned him plaudits from many pundits throughout the season and he has emerged as a vital player in Eddie Howe’s squad after key goals against all of the top five teams in the division, along with Newcastle’s European rivals Chelsea and Manchester United.

Unsurprisingly these displays have caught the attention of a number of elite clubs and the Daily Star claims that Liverpool are hoping to make Gordon one of the first signings of the post-Jurgen Klopp era.

The outlet claims the Merseysiders will look to test Newcastle’s resolve in the transfer market and adds that they could have huge money to throw his way if Mohamed Salah or Luis Diaz are to depart. Gordon has been a revelation for Newcastle and is believed to be happy at the club.

“I absolutely love it here - I’ve said that plenty of times,” he told NUFC TV. “I’ve never come to a stadium where I get the feeling of pure joy.”

However, his recent appearance on the Overlap with Gary Neville has sparked speculation that he may have been a Liverpool fan growing up.

The Everton academy graduate notably described Steven Gerrard as his ‘footballing hero’ growing up and also described Mo Salah as a ‘machine’ of a winger and someone that he takes inspiration from. Sun Sport claims that Newcastle will want at least £100m for the winger if he is to depart from St James’ Park, but Toon fans will be determined to keep hold of one of their prize assets.

Newcastle consider move for FM24 prodigy who plays for the team’s top six rivals

The 18-year-old recently made his Premier League debut as a substitute against Tottenham, and is widely considered to be a future Blues star. Acheampong is primarily a right back, but is capable of playing in all areas of the back four as he has proved for England U16,U17 and U18 level where he has already made a combined 27 appearances.

Newcastle’s new model has seen the club make moves for long-term players that they can develop into future stars as we have seen with Alfie Harrison, Yankuba Minteh, Gurang Kuol, Alex Murphy, Cathal Heffernan and Trevan Sanusi. The Magpies are keen to establish themselves as a force at academy and first team level, though nufcblog also understands that Tottenham are vying for Acheampong’s signature.
