Mehrdad Ghodoussi has urged Newcastle United to stick together following the 2-0 defeat to AFC Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

A dismal evening on the South Coast, where Dominic Solanke scored a second-half brace, inflicted a first defeat on the Magpies in nine domestic matches as they failed to move within one point of the Premier League top four.

But there were mitigating circumstances. Howe was without 12 senior players for the return to his former club and the club's injury situation worsened half an hour in when Miguel Almiron went off with a hamstring injury.

Frustrations were high at full-time with Kieran Trippier getting into a verbal altercation with a supporter. Indeed, Ghodoussi's message after the game was well-timed.

The United co-owner said: "We win together, we lose together, we stand together @NUFC".

The Premier League season now pauses for the two-week international break, where Newcastle will welcome back Bruno Guimaraes from suspension for the visit of Chelsea. They also hope to have Alexander Isak back from a groin injury.

Howe hopes Almiron's hamstring injury isn't serious but asides from that, the list of absentees pretty much remains the same.

Callum Wilson (hamstring), Jacob Murphy (shoulder), Dan Burn (back), Elliot Anderson (back), Matt Targett and Sven Botman (knee) are long-term injuries, while Sandro Tonali is suspended from football for 10 months.

Summer signing Harvey Barnes has been sidelined since September but it's hoped he will return not long after the international break, however he won't be available for Chelsea.
