Mehrdad Ghodoussi has called on Newcastle United to make it a “special” evening at St James’ Park as Wor Flags prepare for their “biggest display ever”.

The Magpies co-owner will take to his seat in the directors tonight as Eddie Howe’s side hope to end the campaign on a high with three points from their final home game of 2021/22 against Arsenal.

The pressure is off for United, who secured their Premier League status with games to spare - something that could not have been envisaged a few months ago.

The last home game of the season, under the lights on Tyneside - it is already promising to be an incredible atmosphere.

And Wor Flags will play a huge part in that, as they have done so brilliantly all season, with every seat inside St James’ Park covered in either foil or a foil flag.

The fan group is asking for supporters to be in their seats at least 15 minutes before kick-off.

Posting a statement this morning, Wor Flags said: “As we head into the final home game of the season, everyone at Wor Flags would just like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has supported us both voluntarily and financially.

“The game against Arsenal will be our biggest display ever, with every seat in St James’ Park involved to help make this a night to remember, so please arrive early if you can.

“On your seat you’ll find either a singular piece of foil or a foil flag, please use this before the game. You’ll help create something that volunteers have been working on over the last few days.

“Please leave any of our popular wavers under the seats at the start, feel free to use them at the end...but don’t take them home!! Thank you for the support this season.

“Our club is unrecognisable since October and now we are all pulling in the same direction. Roll on next season! This is our house.

“This is Newcastle. Howay the Lads!”

Responding to the message, Ghodoussi thanked the volunteers of Wor Flags, who met Howe and his players on Saturday, and hopes for a “special” night at St James’ Park.

He tweeted: “Let’s make it special @NUFC thank you @worflags #nufc @SkySportsPL”
