Over the summer it was reported he had attracted attention from the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea. After Newcastle’s Carabao Cup win over Manchester City, Pep Guardiola could been seen hugging and whispering to the midfielder on the pitch before Bruno shook his finger at the manager.

And the 25-year-old has taken to social media to share his joy, writing: ‘I have never felt so loved as I am here!! Thank you for everything@NUFC.’

Guimaraes’ wife, Ana Lidia Martins Guimaraes, who is currently expecting the couple’s second child, also took to Instagram to share her love for the city and the club. ‘Feels like home to us,’ she wrote alongside a black and white heart.

Earlier this week Ana also shared a loving message with her followers. During Newcastle’s 4-1 against PSG, she shared a video of St James’ Park with the caption: ‘I can’t explain this place, this team. We love you, NEWCASTLE.
