Newcastle United winger Miguel Almiron faces an uncertain future at St James’ Park ahead of the January transfer window.
The Paraguayan international has been heavily linked with a move away from Tyneside in both of the last two transfer windows after a dip in form which has seen him drop down the pecking order behind the likes of Anthony Gordon, Harvey Barnes and Jacob Murphy.

Newcastle are believed to be in the market for a right sided winger in January after a late deadline day bid in the summer for Anthony Elanga, and could use some of the funds raised from a potential Almiron sale to help fund a deal in that area. Almiron was Rafa Benitez’s final signing as Newcastle boss in January 2019 - he arrived for a then club-record fee of £21m from Atlanta United.
The former MLS Cup winner has a record of 30 goals and 12 assists in 213 appearances for the Magpies and has been lauded for his contribution towards helping the club secure Champions League football during the 2022/23 season. He is renowned for his blistering speed, incredible work rate and his ability to dribble past opposition defences. These qualities, according to TeamTalk, make him a target for this weekend’s opponents Everton, who are keen to add further reinforcements to aid them in their bid to avoid relegation.
Everton’s winger options currently include Leeds United loanee Jack Harrison, ex-Sheffield United winger Iliman Ndiaye, with Dwight McNeil now starring in a new central attacking midfield role. Almiron could offer the club further options in that area and would be able to provide defensive protection to veteran Ashley Young, who has struggled at times this season.

TeamTalk understands that Almiron is still held in high regard by many MLS clubs. One of the front-runners to make a bid in January are understood to be the newly founded Charlotte FC.
The Crown are managed by former Aston Villa and Leicester City boss Dean Smith, who is reportedly keen to add further reinforcements from the Premier League, having signed Scott Arfield and Ashley Westwood in the past.
