Joao Felix has admitted he is unsure over his next move after the on-loan Chelsea forward was linked with a surprise move to Newcastle United.

Recent reports in Spain had suggested the Magpies were considering an ambitious move for the Portugal international after qualifying for the Champions League for the first time in two decades. Spanish outlet Marca had claimed United were ready to push on with a club record £87m bid for Felix, despite the forward struggling to make a serious impact during his time at Stamford Bridge.

After joining the Blues on a half-season loan from La Liga giants Atletico Madrid midway through the January transfer window, Felix has scored just three goals in 14 appearances and will bring down the curtain on his loan spell when his temporary employers entertain Newcastle on the final day of the Premier League season this Sunday.

As it stands, Felix will return to the Spanish capital following the game and the uncertainty over his long-term future will continue after his relationship with Atletico manager Diego Simeone became strained prior to his temporary switch to Stamford Bridge.

Speaking to Spanish newspaper AS in April, Felix discussed Simeone’s future with the club when he was asked about their relationship. He said: “Every year they talk about him leaving, but he never leaves. So I no longer believe anything that is said. If it stays, very well; if he leaves, a lot of happiness for him, that everything goes very well for him. Only in June we will know what is going to happen.”

With his next move still awaiting confirmation, Felix has given his verdict on his time at Stamford Bridge but left his future in question in a video released on social media.

He said: “I don’t know yet my future, but these four or five months, I’ve loved it (at Chelsea). It’s a top club. Everyone in the club was very good to me. My team-mates, unbelievable. I really like to be here.”
