Italian giants Juventus are reportedly considering a move for Newcastle United and Liverpool transfer target Kalvin Phillips. The Manchester City and England midfielder's future has been the subject of intense speculation in recent weeks as he struggles to find a regular place in Pep Guardiola's side. Phillips joined the reigning Premier League champions from Leeds United in a £42m move during the summer of 2022 - but went on to make just four starts during his first season at the Etihad Stadium.

That led to suggestions the 27-year-old was set to leave City during the summer - but he opted to remain with the treble winners despite receiving interest from elsewhere.

Speaking earlier this season about Phillips' situation, Guardiola said: “Marcelo (Bielsa) gave Kalvin the best of Kalvin in his career. I’d love to have done with Kalvin what Marcelo has done to him. We have our own specific way to play and (he) sometimes struggles in a few things, while the previous (Leeds playing style) was perfect (for him).

“The club spoke with him because he did not have many minutes. He said ‘no, I want to stay’. We brought Kalvin here for his quality. He is open minded, always wants to learn and wants to help. This is what we want to try to do.”

The midfielder has made just one start during the current campaign as he featured in City's 1-0 defeat against Newcastle in a Carabao Cup third round tie in September and has had to settle for a further seven substitute appearances in the Champions League and Premier League.

Newcastle and Liverpool have been strongly linked with a move for his services during the January transfer window and there have been suggestions City would be open to discussing a loan deal in the new year.

However, TEAMtalk have reported Juventus are 'considering a move' for Phillips as they face up to life without midfielder Paul Pogba and Nicolo Fagiolo for the foreseeable future. The report suggests the Serie A club are 'seeking further clarification' over how City and Phillips view his future and believe they can agree a loan deal with an option of a permanent move to follow in the summer.
