Newcastle United and Manchester United transfer target Federico Chiesa is reportedly set to be offered a new contract by Serie A giants Juventus.

Chiesa has not let talks over his future impact on his performances so for this season after he scored four goals and provided one assist in his opening six appearances of the campaign as Juve have moved into fourth place in the Serie A table ahead of Sunday evening’s visit to Atalanta.

Spanish outlet Fichajes have reported Newcastle and Manchester United remain keen on the 25-year-old but could face disappointment as Juve are said to be ‘determined’ to secure the future of one of their prize assets and negotiations over a new deal are said to be ‘a hot topic’ for the Serie A club’s hierarchy.

Former Magpies defender sees Championship talks ‘falter’

Ciaran Clark is still yet to find a new club after his seven-year stay at Newcastle came to an end earlier this summer.

The Rafa Benitez signing joined the Magpies ahead of the Spaniard’s first full season in charge at St James Park and was part of the United squad that secured a return to the Premier League in 2017. He remained with the club throughout the closing years of Benitez’s time in charge and Steve Bruce’s three-year reign - but fell out of favour under current manager Eddie Howe.

Clark spent the entirity of last season on loan at Sheffield United but failed to earn a permanent move with the Blades as they claimed promotion back into the Premier League. The Republic of Ireland international’s contract at Newcastle came to an end this summer and he was expected to join Championship club Stoke City after holding talks with the Potters in recent weeks.

However, writing via his Patreon, journalist Alan Nixon has revealed a ‘snag’ over personal terms have left the move in doubt, meaning Clark will remain a free agent for the time being.
