The latest transfer talk from Newcastle United as the Magpies await their first move of the January transfer window.

Newcastle United have been linked with an ambitious move for Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich as he awaits news on his future with the Bundesliga giants.

Christian Falk, Head of Football at German outlet Bild, has reported the Magpies have lodged an enquiry over the possibility of a deal for the 82-times capped Germany international and suggested Bayern are ‘ready to negotiate’.  However, he also revealed Kimmich, who is now in the final 18 months of his current deal with the Bundesliga champions, is not willing to discuss a move during the January transfer window.

The 28-year-old has already given an indication of how he views his future and extending his stay with Bayern after being questioned on links with Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain over the weekend.

He told Sky Germany: “I’m actually just focused on Bayern. For me, that (a move) wasn’t a topic at all in winter. I think at some point, the club will approach me, and we’ll sit together. Everything that will be discussed, we’ll discuss with each other – and not with you (the media).”

Intriguingly, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi also discussed links with Kimmich in an interview with Rothen s’enflamme, stating any discussions over a deal would be held between the two clubs, rather than with the media.

He said: “Listen, I don’t want to talk about a player from another club because I respect Bayern Munich a lot.  I have very good relations with Bayern and with Rummenigge too. If we have an interest in a player, we will talk about it with the club.

“But the truth is that today, we are looking at the transfer window. But we know that the transfer window is difficult, but we look at each possibility, how we can and how we want to develop to help the team progress.”
