The former Bournemouth boss is armed with a healthy budget thanks to Newcastle’s new owners, but he does have a number of areas in need of strengthening.

The Magpies will want to take a significant step forward this season, but it won’t be easy, and there is an added difficulty that comes with a large number of new faces.

Howe will have to be aware of that as he looks to add more new signings, but excitement outweights any cautiousness for Newcastle fans after many years of austerity at the club.

As the transfer news continues to pour in, we have rounded up all the latest below.

The deal to sign Sven Botman from Lille is almost completed.

The Magpies have been chasing the centre-back for some time, and they are now close to completing a deal.

Botman has already arrived in the North East for his medical, and it’s expected the transfer will be officially announced in the next day or two.

The deal is said to be worth around £34million including add-ons, and represents a big investment from Newcastle as they look to solidify the back-line even further.

Newcastle are not said to have a big amount left in their transfer kitty.

It’s no secret the Magpies have very wealthy owners, but they have their limits, and particularly as it relates to Financial Fair Play.

Newcastle spent significantly in January, and they are already racking up a big total in the summer window.

Amid that spending, the Daily Telegraph report that ‘not a lot of money’ remains for the current window.
