There was no sign of Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka as the television cameras filmed a small part of training on Tuesday morning.

Eddie Howe's side are preparing for Wednesday's Champions League Group F decider against AC Milan at St James' Park. The Magpies must beat the Italian giants and hope Paris Saint-Germain drop points away to Borussia Dortmund to qualify for the last 16 of the competition.

A draw will guarantee United a spot in the knockout stages of the Europa League while a defeat will see them exit Europe altogether having only just returned following a 10-year absence.

Injuries have decimated Newcastle's squad in recent months and Tuesday morning brought the news that neither Dubravka, Sean Longstaff or Anthony Gordon took part in the opening 15 minutes of training, the section broadcasters were permitted to film.

Dubravka has been recalled to the starting XI for the last two matches against Everton and Tottenham Hotspur after surgery on a dislocated shoulder for Nick Pope ruled the England goalkeeper out until April.

The Slovakian was expected to make his Champions League debut against Milan, and while that could still be the case, his absence has raised doubt over his fitness.

Third choice goalkeeper Loris Karius was involved in training, as was Mark Gillespie, although the former Carlisle United man is ineligible to play in the Champions League after not being named in the squad.

Also spotted among Howe's squad was 17-year-old Adam Harrison. The goalkeeper has been part of Newcastle's UEFA Youth League campaign and played against Milan when they lost 4-0 in September.

Depending on the availability of players, Harrison could well be named on the bench at St James' Park when Milan visit tomorrow.

When the two clubs met on matchday one, 16-year-old goalkeeper Aidan Harris was listed among the substitutes with Dubravka missing through illness.

Harrison would be eligible to feature via the Magpies' B list, which allows any player born before January 1, 2002 and who played for the club for an uninterrupted period of at least two years or three years including a one-year loan spell to be registered.

Ben Parkinson, Michael Ndiweni, Lucas de Bole, James Huntley and Harris have all benefitted from that rule this season having made up the numbers amid an injury crisis.
