Newcastle United could reportedly hand Memphis Depay a second chance in the Premier League.

With the January transfer window only a couple of months away now, transfer speculation regarding the Holland international has started to emerge again.

Depay, 28, remains on the books of Barcelona and stayed with the La Liga side beyond the last transfer deadline despite links with a departure.

Newcastle’s name came up in the last window and TuttoJuve now claim they are in the running once again and may hand him a ‘new opportunity’ in England, with Juventus mentioned as another potential suitor.

Depay situation

Depay has been nursing a hamstring injury over recent times and that has limited him to just three appearances in all competitions so far this term.

Barcelona swooped to land him back in 2021 and he has since played 41 times for the La Liga giants, chipping in with 14 goals, and his contract at Camp Nou expires next year.

He had a spell at Manchester United from 2015 to 2017 after they snapped him up from PSV. However, he struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford and was allowed to leave to join Lyon.

Depay got his career back on track in France and fired 76 goals in 178 matches to land his big move to Spain.

Newcastle are no strangers to being linked with big names these days and have some decisions to make over the next couple of months as to who to target this winter.

The Toon Army are currently 7th in the league table after their win over Fulham last time out.
