Travelling Newcastle United supporters will once again descend on non-league side Hanwell Town this weekend before The Magpies take on Brentford in London.

Founded by homesick Geordies living in London over 100 years ago, the notoriety of Hanwell Town has grown over the past 18 months thanks to a series of viral moments online.

The outfit is less than four miles from the Gtech Community Stadium and this weekend's visit to Brentford gives Newcastle United fans the perfect chance to visit the home away from home.

Last year coaches full of Magpies supporters arrived at Hanwell Town to meet fans and share a drink before making the journey to the Premier League ground.

It's set to be a similar story on Saturday and, although the Hanwell Town first team are away at Plymouth Parkway, fans and staff are preparing to welcome Newcastle fans with welcome arms.

Reflecting on when fans came to visit last year Hanwell Town's Head of Marketing and Social Media Elsa said: "It was a great vibe. Everyone was really up for it.

"Our chairman who is 84 years old welcomed everyone who came in and shook their hand which was a lovely moment. The support from Newcastle fans has been massive for the club, we are super grateful for all the help we’ve received.

"Before Wembley we had over 300 Newcastle United fans drinking at the club, everyone was great and generously donated to our new stand which we’ve managed to get!"

Magpies fans haven't just supported Hanwell Town on trips to London but helped the club's online following increase by thousands and flocked to by club kit - the non-league club appropriately plays in black and white thanks to their ancestors.

For any fans who aren't making the trip from the North East to West London this weekend, Elsa said: "Hanwell Town was founded in 1920 by Newcastle United fans working in the capital and in the last few years we’ve really found our roots and have managed to tap into a wonderful supporter base in Newcastle who have been fantastic at welcoming us.

"If you’re a little way away, following us on social media is the biggest help, we managed to grow over 14,000 in 24 hours with just NUFC fans!"
