'Frustrating' - Newcastle United have already responded to Man City's interest in Tino Livramento

Fabrizio Romano claims Manchester City are interested in signing Newcastle United right-back Tino Livramento.

Newcastle United have already responded to speculation linking Tino Livramento with a move to Manchester City.

The 22-year-old joined Newcastle from Southampton for an initial £32million in the summer of 2023 and in just under two seasons has made 78 appearances. He also made his senior England debut last November.

The Magpies won the Carabao Cup in March and are now on the brink of sealing Champions League qualification, requiring one win from their final two matches against Arsenal and Everton. Livramento has played a key part in all that having covered superbly at left-back in recent months in the absence of Lewis Hall.

Manchester City consider move for Newcastle United full-back Tino Livramento

But Livramento is a right-back by trade and according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Man City have shortlisted him as a replacement for Kyle Walker, who is out of contract this summer after spending the second-half of the campaign on loan at Italian giants AC Milan.

Romano claims Pep Guardiola’s side are considering Livramento and three others with a decision on who they move for set to be decided ahead of the Club World Cup, which is being held in the United States between June 14 and July 13.

“Tino Livramento, among options under consideration at Manchester City for right back position,” Romano wrote on X. “There’s a four-men shortlist for that position with City set to decide ahead of Club World Cup. Kyle Walker will 100% leave the club, even if AC Milan won’t buy him.”

The Premier League confirmed in March that it will have two transfer windows this summer due to “exceptional” circumstances surrounding the Club World Cup. The first transfer window opens on Sunday, June 1 until Tuesday, June 10 before the second window runs from Monday, June 16 to Monday, September.

Livramento is under contract at St James’ Park until 2028.

Newcastle United’s stance on Tino Livramento

Man City were first linked with Livramento earlier this year and when those reports were put to Eddie Howe, the Newcastle boss voiced the club’s frustration at seeing their players regularly linked with moves elsewhere.

“Yes, I think it goes without saying [we want to keep him],” Howe replied. “I think it's frustrating for us that we're consistently talking about players, rumours of be leaving.

“We want to go the other way. We want to strengthen the group. We want to make our team and squad stronger for the future rather than lose our best players.”

Tino Livramento happy at Newcastle United

Livramento has previously expressed how happy he is at Newcastle having managed himself a first-team regular.

The full-back was previously at Chelsea but didn’t make a first-team appearance before moving to Southampton. He was restricted to 34 appearances for the Saints after suffering an ACL injury.

“The goal was always to be playing in the Premier League as early as possible,” Livramento said. “I left Chelsea and got that experience straight away at Southampton. I had some tough times with injuries but the club and the fans were great to me.

“Now I’m at a place I absolutely love – the atmosphere, the supporters, the manager, it feels like I’m in a great place at Newcastle. I’m in the best place I could be to learn and develop as a footballer.”
