Newcastle United may have a fresh injury concern ahead of Saturday lunchtime’s Premier League trip to Leeds United (kick-off 12:30pm).

Joelinton was substituted in the 81st minute at St James’ Park as the Magpies lost 2-0 to title challengers Arsenal yesterday.

Not many people thought too much about the Brazilian’s withdrawal at the time but his condition after full-time is perhaps some cause for worry.

Emerging from the tunnel as local and national journalists waited pitchside in the mixed zone, the 26-year-old struggled to put weight on his ankle.

He limped down the touchline towards the player’s exit in the Leazes Corner before being greeted by his fiancée and the rest of his family.

Joelinton will likely be assessed in the comings days, though Newcastle will hope it is nothing more than a minor knock so he can be available for the weekend trip to Elland Road.

One midfielder Eddie Howe’s side look set to be without is Sean Longstaff.

The 25-year-old Geordie missed last week’s 3-1 win over Southampton due to a foot injury. He went for an x-ray, which initially revealed no broken bone or fracture.

But having also missed the visit of Arsenal, Longstaff is being sent to see a specialist amid fears he’s sustained something serious.

“I don’t know anymore as I sit here now. I certainly hope we will see him [this season],” said Howe. “On specialist’s advice, he’s going to see a specialist on Tuesday to get double-checked.

“I won’t go into the technicalities but we thought it was a standard injury but now there may be a chance of something more serious than that. We’re in the dark at the moment.”
