Emil Krafth and two others will miss Newcastle United’s Premier League trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.

The 28-year-old was stretchered off in the first half of the Magpies’ 2-1 win against Tranmere Rovers in the second round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.

United head coach Eddie Howe admitted after the game that it didn’t look good for the right-back, who signed a one-year contract extension in July.

Newcastle are still awaiting scan results on Krafth’s knee injury to determine the seriousness and how long the Swede will be sidelined for.

“We’ve got a worry over Emil Krafth,” Howe told reporters ahead of the trip to Molineux. “We don’t know what the detail of that injury is currently.

“He’s got a scan today, I think. It doesn’t look too good currently, so that’s a real shame for him and for us. Until we get the scan results, we don’t know.”

As well as Callum Wilson, who is expected to miss the next “couple of weeks” with a hamstring injury, Krafth joins Jonjo Shelvey in the treatment room.

Howe, however, is set to include Ryan Fraser and Jamaal Lascelles in his matchday squad this weekend.

Fraser had a groin issue as United warmed up for their 3-3 draw with Premier League champions Manchester City but is thought to be OK.

Lascelles, scorer of the Magpies’ equaliser at Prenton Park, took a nasty bang to the nose and had to be substituted due to regular bleeding.
